Louis Adamič o Los Angelesu

datum: 30.01.2013

kategorija: Novice SIM

Tik pred koncem leta je izšla prva slovenska izdaja knjige Louisa Adamiča Resnica o Los Angelesu, v prevodu Aleša Debeljaka in ponatis izvirnika v angleškem jeziku.

Projekt izdaje Adamičevih knjig Resnica o Los Angelesu / The Truth About Los Angeles sta zasnovala urednika Alenka Pirman in Marko Peljhan ter je izveden v sodelovanju zavoda Projekt Atol, Združenja Slovenska izseljenska matica in založbe Littera picta.
Andreja Rijavca in v sodelovanju s prof.

Dear Sir or Madam,

recently we have published the first Slovenian edition of Louis Adamic's book The Truth About Los Angeles (Resnica o Los Angelesu), translated by Ales Debeljak, and reprinted the English original. The book was written in 1927, when Adamic was working as an emigrant reporter in the USA. The Truth About L.A. is still a very contemporary analysis of the American society. The concept of this project of publishing Adamic's books was established by editors Alenka Pirman and Marko Peljhan. The project was produced in collaboration of Projekt Atol Institute, Slovene Emigrant Association and publishing house Littera picta.

Littera picta has also published English-Slovenian edition of Kajetan Kovič's poems in 2012, translated by Andrej Rijavec and with the help of Miha Pintarič, who also contributed the foreword. The present biligual publication has the intention of offering a conceptual a well as chronological survey of Kajetan Kovič's poetic output by taking into account the poet's own selection from the popular red miniature edition, a poetic survey, under the modest title Pesmi (Poems, 2003). Kajetan Kovič is renowned as one of the most eminent and frequently translated Slovenian poets. He ranks among the "big four" post-war Slovenian poets, named after the famous collection Pesmi štirih (Four Poets, 1953), in which, together with Tone Pavček, Ciril Zlobec and Janez Menart, he introduced himself for the first time. The book was published with the kind support of Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.

The books would be a wonderful gift for your business partners. Great Slovenian writers could be introduced to your partners also in English.

If you would like a presentation of Adamic's or Kovic's editions, please feel free to contact us. The editors are available for hosting live presentation upon request.
